Thanks for looking into our one-of-a-kind, handcrafted dwelling ideally located in Portland Oregon's Mississippi Ave District.

Our spacious, lower-level One Bedroom Plus is both comfortable and aesthetically beautiful, with numerous hand-hewn details throughout. The space's visionary craftsman thoroughly and thoughtfully designed and built it to reflect both Old World natural building practices and modern eco-sensibilities. And our little oasis is just 2 blocks from the bustle and excitement of Mississippi Avenue.

From the lush, tree-lined street below, one ascends the stone steps to arrive at the mindfully appointed garden-level private patio and entry. Upon arriving, one might notice the attention to detail in the EXQUISITE WORKMANSHIP and JAPANESE CARPENTRY, from the handmade doors and windows to the framing.

Once inside, one is immediately welcomed by the warmth of the natural clay walls, the wood-beamed ceiling, and the sunny dining nook.

This kitchen was made to cook. It boasts a professional Viking six-burner stove and convection oven, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and handmade cabinetry.

The bathroom is two rooms! One has a shower and sink, the other has a toilet and sink. The shower features cedar siding, walnut, elm and cherry shelving and an artistic combination of tile and glass.

The living room is well-appointed and cozy, with warm fir flooring, a Danish modern sleeper sofa, and a gas stove/fireplace.

Off the living room is what looks to be a built-in cabinet, but...once the doors are slid open one discovers a small hidden bedroom! Taken from the idea of an Old World Norwegian box-bed, it's a space kids love. It's also great for giving a little more privacy to a second couple, or we're finding, folks use it instead of the master bedroom!

The main bedroom has a new queen mattress and frame. All the bedding throughout is natural cotton with goose down fill.

*Special Note: The stone stairs leading up to the unit from the street are irregular and can be difficult especially for older guests and guests with disabilities so please take this into consideration before booking.

This is our home.

We love our home.
And we love our neighborhood and Portland. And we love meeting people!

We want to give our guests privacy, but we are available for conversation, refreshments, suggestions, or plain old jabbering.

If you need anything, want to know more about the place or the Mississippi neighborhood, or just want to chat, please let us know!

Technically the Boise-Eliot neighborhood, nested just one block from the trendy and vibrant Mississippi Street arts district, our place has easy access to some of Portland's best shops, restaurants, food carts, bars and breweries, music venues, boutiques, coffee houses, and yoga studios.

Mississippi Studio is a fantastic place to see a show.
Need a hard-to-find lightbulb? Sunlan likely has you covered.
A vinyl record, a comic book, and a video game store are all here, too.

We're in short walking distance to major bus lines and our neighborhood MAX train/light rail station. You can rent a bicycle a few blocks away through Portland's bike share program. We are only minutes from other local hotspots like the Alberta Arts District, Downtown and the Pearl. Getting around town from here couldn't be easier.

The two of us live above if you need anything. Also, you may hear the patter of our corgi mix, Costello, or the thud of our tuxedo cat, Jeremy.
