This is a romantic hideaway for lovers, honeymooners, travelers and visitors passing through to one of our beach homes ...or for folks visiting the Portland area for any reason.
You have your own entrance, separate off-street parking on the circular drive and is completely private from the rest of the property.
With one fourth of an acre dedicated to the garden studio, you will find that you have lots of visual privacy in a large area to call your own. We offer rural surroundings in an urban setting on a fairly busy street. You will be visually private, but expect some traffic noise, especially during rush hours. About 10-15 minutes from downtown by car, depending on traffic.

What we DON'T have:
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT SMOKE TOBACCO, MARIJUANA OR VAPE INSIDE OUR HOME. DOING SO WILL INCUR A $500 PENALTY! We make a very large garden area for your use and encourage you to take advantage of this space.
A Light Footprint
In creating our “Garden Apartment”, one of our goals was to recycle and re-purpose as much as possible. We had fun doing it and thought we’d share this list with our guests:
*The masonry for the patio came from a Portland school when they updated.
*The rocks that surround the patio were buried in the gardens here from the ‘50s.
*The decking was removed from Rob’s brother’s house (with permission:) and reinstalled.
*The deck framing and masonry supports came from a (Hidden by Airbnb) ad - the owners were re-designing their back yard.
*The hot tub came from another Craig’s List ad – the super nice owners were moving and couldn’t take it along. PS moving the hot tub was fun.
*The ceiling in the apartment is original. We removed the sheetrock, painted the beams, and left the fir attic decking alone. If you look carefully at the ceiling you’ll see the blue grading marks on the lumber from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) or so: 3,3,3,2,3 etc
*The wood frames inside the wall niches came from old cedar barn wood.
*In early (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , we installed a photovoltaic solar panel system on the roof. You can’t see it from the driveway or the guest side of the house, but it produces enough electricity to power almost all the needs of the house, including the hot tub.
We try to not use any herbicides, and recycle just about everything that the recycling people will take.
We are directly on the #78 bus route, with a bus stop right outside our driveway.
NOTE: The driveway is monitored for security purposes.
