Overview
In the inner NE quadrant, the room features a queen bed in a south-facing room on the first floor near the back garden. Shared bath. Walk to the Lloyd, Moda and Oregon Convention Centers, catch transit to and from PDX and downtown. Enjoy Portland with a bed for two. There's room for a third on the floor if needed. Lyft care are always around the area, and Car2Go and Getaround cars are nearby.

You are getting a comfortable bed in a cozy room with a garden view. The room is near the kitchen, and down the hall from the only bathroom in the house. The flat is generally a quiet place without regular TV or radio going. There's occasional music. If more than two guests for this room, I can put down a sleeping pad for the 3rd. It's tight, but the price is right.
There's another Airbnb room on the same floor, so you'll perhaps cross paths with other guests.

* Kitchen (stove, oven, refrigerator) * Back yard * The shared bathroom has a clawfoot tub. * Covered bike parking, if needed. *Dining room -I prefer you eat at the table rather than in the room, and it's a good place to plan your day or correspond.

I prefer independent guests, and I'm happy to provide information about the area, restaurants, and getting around Portland. I have some maps and guides. The rental does not include breakfast. If you do want to cook, I have basics like oil, vinegar, salt, mustard, spices. No need to buy that kind of stuff. Ask, and I'll let you know. I usually have an umbrella or two around. Let me know if you need one and don't see one in your room.

The Irvington is in inner NE Portland, and my place is very close to the Lloyd Center, Moda Center (formerly the Rose Garden), Rose Quarter, DoubleTree Convention Center, and Oregon Convention Center on MLK. NE Broadway Street offers a range of businesses from a vegan restaurant to most types of fast food, plus a Safeway and Walgreens. A bit further off is a Whole Foods, and beyond that a small local co-op. We have two New Seasons markets nearby: Williams and Grant Park. Lloyd Center Mall is nearby. Lots of typical mall stores, plus an indoor ice rink. Around the building on-street parking is free, unrestricted, and fairly easy.

MAX, the regional transit, and Portland Streetcar are both nearby. Closest MAX station is NE 7th, 6 blocks away. Take the MAX directly to and from the airport on the Red Line, to Beaverton & Hillsboro on the Blue Line, PSU on Green Line, and the Expo Center (with a connection) on the Yellow Line. All lines converge on downtown Portland.
—The Portland Streetcar Central Loop (CL) line is even closer. Take the A-Loop south to OMSI and OHSU or the B-Loop across the Broadway Bridge to the Pearl and downtown. Stops nearest the house: NE Grand & NE Weidler.
—Lots of transit buses move on MLK/NE Grand and NE Broadway/NE Weidler streets in the area, taking riders all over the city.
Consider using TriMet's app to buy transit tickets (including day passes) on your mobile. Portland Streetcar has a separate app to buy tickets.
—Columbia River Gorge Express may be available to the Gorge, including Multnomah Falls. Check to see if it's running before you plan to use it. The service is seasonal and an experiment.
—Biking is easy. The east side of Portland is relatively flat. Cross the river to the west side on bike-friendly bridges, including the nearby Steel Bridge and Broadway Bridge. Bike parking in the basement. Just let me know.
Portland's Amtrak Union Station (and nearby Greyhound station) is a quick Lyft away, or take the Green MAX line (east toward Clackamas) for a short trip to the house. Union Station serves the following trains: Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, and Amtrak Cascades rail routes.
—Finally, get around easily by car. My place is near I-5 and I-84 freeways, which provides easy access to I-205 and the Columbia Gorge.
—Oh, and one more thing: The city is pretty walkable from my place. You can walk to Lloyd Center, Moda Center, Rose Quarter and Oregon Convention Center, and other event hubs like the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland on NE Multnomah St. Walking downtown is not out of the question. It's pleasant if the weather is good, and spectacular if the cherry trees are in bloom in the spring.

This is an adult house with antiques and some delicate things not suited for most children.
The (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) building has old plumbing that should be treated gently. It functions normally, but shouldn't be abused. "Flushables" are not permitted.
This is not a particularly quiet refuge. It's in the center of the city, and there are sounds in the neighborhood, and some from the building.
One of my first guests, who identified as a particularly light sleeper, was not able to rest as much as he'd like. Otherwise, I've had no other mention, other that it is indeed quiet. If you are unsure, bring earplugs. If you forget, I often have some around.
I try to keep a low/no scent household. While it is not scent-free, please consider using perfume/cologne and hairspray outside.
There's WiFi for guests. (75+Mbps, mostly)
Living room is available, but it's also my office. So, you can hang out there, but it may not be private. The dining room is set up for guests, and I prefer you eat at the table rather than in the room.
Some interior original mortise locks have new, custom-made bit keys (often called skeleton keys). They can be a bit trickier and delicate than modern locks, and certainly more fun. Ask for help if you would like it.

Quiet man who doesn't drink, do drugs or smoke. Eats mostly organic, including meat. Can embrace a vegetarian or vegan guests.
Work from home, and I am occasionally on phone conferences. Sometimes, I need to have a low level of background noise during business hours, roughly 8AM to 6PM Pacific Time. [This is less-so these days, but still want you to be aware.]
I enjoy seeing movies on the big screen. I cook a lot at home, so the house often smells good. In Oregon, I look forward to snowshoeing on Mt. Hood in the winter, and try to get out to Rooster Rock [beach on the Columbia River] as often as I can in the summer.
I travel as much as my budget will allow, and try to stay in Airbnb places when I don't have friends at my destinations. As a guest, I'm pretty independent in most circumstances. 90% of my travel is personal. If you offer a kitchen in your place, I'll probably cook if I'm there for more than a couple of days.

You are independent, coming and going with your own keys. You keep the house locked when you come and go. We can chat, and I'll check in with you if we cross paths. Let's talk about pets. Generally: small-ish dogs are OK. Cats are not. Quiet Hours: 10PM-8AM - Normal household sounds are fine anytime! Respect me and the neighbors by keeping a peaceful atmosphere around the house and neighborhood. Clean up after yourself. *No bleaching of any kind.* There's no smoking anywhere in the building, and outdoor smokers must ensure that their smoke does not move into open windows or public areas, like the front porch. While there's not a prohibition of drugs and alcohol use, drug and alcohol use should not be apparent. No illegal drugs in the house, and alcohol use in the house should be low, like one or two beers or glasses of wine a night. WiFi use is limited to legal uses. No illegal downloads , P2P or BitTorrents on the house network. Communicate about your plans to use the house (like if you'll be cooking dinner, taking a long bath) so we can coordinate. If you plan to use the kitchen more than getting drinking water or putting leftovers in the refrigerator, let me know. I'll keep it cleaner. ***This is not a place to have a party.***
